Percentage to SGPA calculator

This runs your university’s SGPA-to-percentage formula backwards. If the forward rule is (SGPA − 0.75) × 10, the inverse is (percentage ÷ 10) + 0.75, so 76.50% comes back as 8.40. The arithmetic is exact. What it recovers is an estimate of the grade point your college would have printed, not the grade point itself.

The distinction matters because the forward formula is a convention applied to an already-computed SGPA, not a measurement of it. Your college calculates SGPA from subject grade points and credits, and only then converts it for anyone who asks for a percentage. Running that conversion backwards recovers the input to a convention, which lands close to the truth but carries whatever rounding the forward step introduced.

Some formulas cannot express every percentage. Under Mumbai University’s (SGPA × 7.1) + 11, a 10-point scale tops out at 82.00%, so a 90% input has no valid SGPA behind it at all. This calculator refuses that case and names the ceiling rather than returning a number above 10, which no examination section would recognise.

The legitimate uses are narrow and real: a form that demands grade points when your college publishes percentages, an application that needs a semester figure you no longer have the grade card for, or a quick check that a percentage you have been given is plausible. Where the receiving body will take the transcript with the grading key printed on it, send that instead.

For the whole degree rather than one semester, percentage to CGPA does the same job cumulatively. Going the other way, SGPA to percentage is the forward conversion.
