About MarksCalc

MarksCalc is a set of calculators for Indian undergraduates: grade point to percentage in both directions, credit-weighted SGPA, and attendance against the 75% minimum most professional colleges enforce. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Why it exists

Conversion formulas differ by university. The widely repeated ×9.5 factor comes from CBSE school grading and does not apply to an engineering degree. Mumbai University uses (CGPA × 7.1) + 11; Anna University uses a straight ×10. The same 8.4 lands anywhere between 70.64% and 84% depending on the institution. Most tools present one formula as though it were standard, which is how students end up putting the wrong number on a job application.

The rule on formulas

Every formula on this site is labelled one of two ways. Verified means the issuing university’s own ordinance, circular or examination manual was read, and the page links that document with the date it was read. Not verified means the formula is in wide circulation but has not been checked against the source, and the page says so — no badge, no date, no link.

A verified badge is never shown without a real citation. Pointing at a university homepage and calling it verification is worse than claiming nothing, because you would then trust it.

What this site will not do

• No accounts, no saved history, no login.
• No study tips, motivational copy or encouragement. It is a calculator, not a mentor.
• No claim that a converted figure is official. Your transcript governs.
